Unable to present electronic road tax results in fine incident
A man appealed that he was fined by traffic police for “no road tax” when he encountered a roadblock while driving his client’s car and could not show the physical road tax, nor access his client’s MyJPJ login information for electronic road tax proof.
1. Even if I have paid my road tax, will I still be fined if I am unable to download MyJPJ and present electronic road tax proof on the spot?
Ministry of Transport: No, law enforcement officers can inspect the vehicle’s road tax and driver’s license through their enforcement tools.
2. If the driver is not the owner of the car, how can they show electronic road tax proof?
Ministry of Transport:
1. The car owner only needs to print out the electronic road tax and display it in the vehicle.
2. Even if electronic road tax proof cannot be presented, it is not illegal, as law enforcement officers can inspect the details of the vehicle through their tools.
